What counts as a credit?

One credit is consumed for each unit of work the platform performs. Checking one domain's availability against one TLD costs 1 credit. A WHOIS lookup costs 2 credits, a DNS scan 3, and so on. The cost table above shows the full breakdown. Cached results are always free — re-checking a domain within the cache window costs 0 credits.

Do unused credits roll over?

Accepted Answer

It depends on credit type. Paid credits (from a subscription plan or top-up purchase) roll over indefinitely and never expire while your subscription is active. Free daily credits (20/day on every plan including Free) reset at midnight UTC and do not roll over. Top-up packs are valid for 12 months from purchase and roll over across billing cycles.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access and your remaining credits until then. After cancellation your account downgrades to the Free tier (20 free checks/day, no monthly credits). We don't offer pro-rated refunds for unused time.

Do guests pay? What's the free tier?

Guests (not signed in) get 5 free checks per day via IP rate-limiting, with access to low-cost routes: availability, DNS, SSL, and email-auth checks. Paid routes (WHOIS, hosting, reputation, AI naming) require a free account. Signing up gives you a one-time 100-credit bonus plus 20 free credits per day, with no credit card required.

What is the Provider Abstraction Layer?

The Provider Abstraction Layer is the architectural backbone of NameProf. Instead of calling data providers (WHOIS APIs, DNS resolvers, SSL scanners, etc.) directly, every check goes through a unified pipeline: Cache → Router → Cost Meter → Normalizer. This means re-checked domains serve from cache at zero credits, the router picks the cheapest source and fails over automatically, and credits are metered atomically before results are returned. It's what lets us offer the breadth of checks without unexpected charges.
